Additional Information

Agency Name:: Bureau of Reclamation – Lower Colorado Region
Description:: The activities to be completed by the District during Phase 2 of the Study focus on Understanding Arsenic Occurrence and Mobilization. The Study is for multiple years and is divided into three phases that focus on different Study goal activities. The level of analysis for management alternatives and strategy options will be similar to an appraisal-level study with the intent of using existing information to the maximum extent possible. However, new data such as results of infiltration tests, laboratory analyses, and additional water quality analyses will likely be necessary.

The Study requires an interdisciplinary team of experts working at times independently and other time coordinating with other disciplines to accomplish the goals and complete task identified for each phase. The Study is needed to gather, organize, and analyze the current water quality and water supply conditions in an effort to formulate water resources management alternatives and strategy options.

The District acts as a regional water supply agency to develop a water supply for rapid growing areas in the County. The County includes all properties within and communities of outlying cities and towns that are incorporated into it boundaries. Because readily available water resources have been developed, remaining water resource development is expected to be more complex and on a larger scale than in the past.
