This grant is aimed at advancing optimization theory for hypersonic trajectory planning in support of developing high-speed strike systems for the Navy. The research would enhance a tool for analyzing optimal performance, robust path-planning, and technology trades to inform technology development programs. The goal is to rapidly assess vehicle capabilities, identify limitations, and improve mission success for high-speed strategic systems. Closing date for proposals is February 29, 2016.

Description: | Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division is interested in receiving proposals for research maturation of applied optimization theory within an integrated hypersonic trajectory and vehicle design tool to support the long term development of high speed strike systems for the Navy. This tool would enable a wide range of analyses including optimal performance under nominal conditions, robust path-planning across a wide range of dispersions, and vehicle-level technology trades to support technology development programs. The ability to rapidly characterize vehicle capabilities and identify vehicle limitations that negatively impact mission level goals would provide significant insight into the development of various high speed strategic systems. |
