Additional Information

Agency Name: Bureau of Land Management
Description: There is a need to revise the Flora of the Pacific Northhwest, the primary reference manual used by Botanists and Ecologists to identify native and non-native vegetation in the region. The project will revise and develop taxonomic information about the vascular plants of the Pacific Northwest, and will result in a new, single volume illustrated “Flora of the Pacific Northwest” for the region.

This project is regional in focus in that its goal is to produce a flora for a region that includes the northern half of Oregon, all of Washington, Idaho north of the Snake River Plains, and Montana west of the Continental Divide. The region also includes the southernmost portion of British Columbia. The project is specific to the resource of vascular plants, including ferns, gymnosperms (conifers), and angiosperms (flowering plants).

The University of Washington Herbarium at the Burke Museum is working to produce a new single volume, vascular plant reference manual for the Pacific Northwest based on the authoritative Flora of the Pacific Northwest published in 1973 by C. Leo Hitchcock and Arthur Cronquist.
