USAID/Ethiopia is exploring approaches to addressthe critical human resources challenges in Ethiopia’s health sector. Thepotential program will build on the work carried out under the StrengtheningHuman Resources for Health (HRH) Cooperative Agreement that was awarded toJhpiego in 2012. The potential  programwill work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) at the national and sub-nationallevels (regional, zonal and woreda), higher educational institutions thatprovide healthcare education under the Ministry of Education (MOE), andtargeted health worker professional associations with the goal being  to improve the quality of Ethiopia’s healthworkforce. The focus will be on institutional and individual capacity buildingto improve the quality of pre-service education for priority clinical cadres,improve the competency of clinical health care workers, and build the skills ofhealth human resource managers.
