The department collaborates with local groups like Chelan County Natural Resources Department to implement these crucial initiatives across the Upper Columbia region.
Reclamation has obligations under the Federal Columbia River Power System (FCRPS) Biological Opinion (BiOp) to improve habitat for fish species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Reclamation works with local groups such as Chelan County Natural Resources Department (CCNRD) to implement these projects.
Reclamation is engaged in the implementation of habitat improvement projects across the Upper Columbia region, specifically in the Methow, Wenatchee, and Entiat sub-basins. CCNRD has identified and is working on several projects: the Middle Entiat Project, Cottonwood Flats Project, Peshastin Irrigation District Pump-back Project, Nason-Kahler project, and Adaptive Management and Monitoring of existing projects CCNRD has implemented previously. Implementation of these projects will help Reclamation meet its obligations under the FCRPS BiOp.
