Additional Information

Agency Name:: Fish and Wildlife Service
Description:: The Stockton Office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Anadromous Fish Restoration Program (AFRP), may fund (contingent on avalability of funds) adult salmonid escapement and spawning surveys and the operation of a 5-foot rotary screw trap on the Cosumnes River for the purpose of assessing juvenile migration of Chinook salmon, steelhead, and other fish species in the Cosumnes River. The recipient, Fisheries Foundation of California (FFC), is already in possession of a rotary screw trap that can be used for this effort. FFC has an agreement with the California Department of Fish and Game that this trap will remain available for use in the Cosumnes River into the foreseeable future. The purpose of these surveys and monitoring efforts are to provide data to the AFRP necessary to fulfill the program commitments to restoration activities, and the doubling of natural production of salmon in the Cosumnes River.
