Additional Information on Eligibility: | Eligible applicants are limited to states that are currently in compliance with the core requirements of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (the Act). Pursuant to the Act, at 42 U.S.C. 5603(7), the term “state” means any state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa. Only the agency that the chief executive (e.g., the governor) of each state designates is eligible to apply for these funds. |
