The Department of Agriculture is offering a grant to enhance reservoir evaporation estimation by continuing buoy weather data collection and deploying new stations on reservoirs. By utilizing existing tools and developing new methods, recipients will improve reservoir evaporation predictions through accurate measurement of weather variables and thermal properties. The grant aims to optimize the use of the reservoir meteorological network for better management of water resources. Closing date for applications is January 5, 2017.

Additional Information
Agency Name: | Bureau of Reclamation |
Description: | Recipient will continue buoy weather station data collection on Lahontan reservoir, and re deploy the buoy weather station acquired under a previous cooperative agreement on Stampede reservoir or Lake Tahoe. Recipient will continue to develop and utilize existing tools, and develop new methods, to better predict reservoir evaporation. This will be accomplished by using the existing reservoir meteorological network that consists of weather station buoys, measuring all required weather variables and reservoir thermal properties to accurately estimate evaporation and heat storage. |
