Purpose of Program: Promoting the Readiness of Minors in Supplemental Security Income (PROMISE) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Social Security Administration, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Department of Labor. PROMISE is intended to improve the provision and coordination of services and supports for child Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients and their families to enable them to achieve improved outcomes and reduce their long-term reliance on SSI payments.
