Additional Information

Agency Name: National Park Service
Description: In January 2017, KSJD Public Radio approached Mesa Verde Museum Association And Mesa Verde National Park with an unsolicited proposal to collaborate on a Mesa Verde Voices audio podcast series. KSJD Public Radio was in the process of creating 3 pilot podcasts that were funded through Mesa Verde Country Visitor Information Bureau.

This innovative outreach to new and diverse audiences had not been considered previously. There were no prior plans to produce a podcast series nor was this the subject of a current or planned contract or assistance award.

The park and MVMA are excited about the possibility of harnessing the power of new technology to meet Mesa Verde’s established program objectives of enhancing visitor experiences, improving access to park information, and utilizing technology to engage new audiences.

This agreement is an expansion of the three pilot episodes that were created through a partnership between KSJD Public Radio and Mesa Verde Country. The first season produced under this agreement will explore the topic of trade in the ancient Southwest. Some items that will be discussed include copper, shells, chocolate, pottery, and feathers. Topics for later seasons will be determined in the future.
