This program is authorized under section 317(k)(1) of the Public Health Service Act [42 U.S.C. 247b(k)(1)], as amended. The following entities are eligible to apply to the extent they are States, political divisions of States, other public entities, or nonprofit entities:

• Nonprofit with 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education)
• Nonprofit without 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education)
• Small, minority, and women-owned businesses
• Universities
• Colleges
• Research institutions
• Hospitals
• Community-based organizations
• Faith-based organizations
• Federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian/Alaska Native tribal governments
• American Indian/Alaska native tribally designated organizations
• Alaska Native health corporations
• Urban Indian health organizations
• Tribal epidemiology centers

Description::	The purpose of the program is to support activities to increase the operational capacity of Immunization Information Systems (IIS). This program addresses the Healthy People 2020 topic area of Immunization and Infectious Diseases, specifically Objective IID-18, Increase the proportion of children under 6 years of age whose immunization records are in fully operational, population-based immunization information systems. The purpose of this 4-part program is to support activities to increase the operational capacity of Immunization Information Systems (IIS) by: a) developing and implementing data quality and assessment approaches b) promoting education and training, c) developing operational guidelines, and d) providing peer support and specialized assistance.
