The Department of the Interior presents the NPS Career Development for Native American Youth Ambassador Grant to involve Native American youth in interpretive, educational, and natural resource protection activities at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Through this grant, participants will enhance visitor services, acquire skills in monitoring and managing vegetation and wildlife, and contribute to improving wildlife-dependent recreation opportunities within the parks. B. Project Objectives ¿ By participating in the project, Native American youth will improve visitor services and advance mission achievement through offering interpretive and educational programs to park visitors. Native American youth will learn and develop valuable skills in vegetation and wildlife monitoring; invasive non-native plant inventory, mapping, and management; native plant restoration; and outdoor living and recreation while improving wildlife-dependent recreation opportunities (i.e. hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, and/or photography) at multiple park sites. In addition, project participants will gain a better understanding and appreciation of NPS natural and cultural resources. |
