Description: Through this Task Agreement, CL will create, fill, administer, and support two positions to work a total of 52 weeks in support of park and regional office projects and programming throughout the NPS, National Capital Region (Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia). Each such position will provide high-quality exposure to the kinds of professional work performed by NPS and other public lands agencies to benefit local communities and non-profits, and will include efforts to engage young people in projects that support community outreach and engagement, education and interpretation, public health and wellness, research and scholarly work, outdoor recreation, and improved access to public lands.

This project:
– Assists in the creation, promotion, facilitation, and/or improvement of the public’s understanding of natural, cultural, historic, recreational and other aspects of areas that fall under the jurisdiction and/or purview of the NPS and their connections with other public land agencies and organizations.
– Motivates community members and community focused groups, educators, public lands staff, local and national partner organizations, and youth participants to become involved in the programmatic, natural, cultural and /or historical resource protection of their communities, parks, and beyond.
– Improves general public access to NPS and other adjacent public lands.
