| Description: | The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to develop and implement a four-day workshop (inclusive of arrival and departure days) in Phnom Penh on STEM Education for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), pending the availability of funds.
The YSEALI Regional Workshop on STEM Education will bring together 40 YSEALI members from across ASEAN countries who have some knowledge and strong interest in long-term STEM education and promotion issues. The workshop will also include 10 additional Cambodian YSEALI members. The workshop will enable participants to learn about how to engage youth on STEM topics, how to promote STEM education and integrate it into a curriculum, as well as its challenges and best practices. Participants will also learn from a U.S. Fulbright Visiting Scholar – Dr. Do-Yong Park – about his research on the topic of STEM education. Additionally, participants will have a chance to visit and learn about the use of STEM in cultural heritage preservation projects (such as at Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum or the Choeung Ek Killing Fields) and visit the Cambodian Science and Engineering Festival where they will present their group projects. The workshop will include a mix of informational sessions, discussions on STEM education and challenges, and break-out sessions on different topics and group presentations. |
