The grant aims to expand the knowledge base for forensic science policy and practice, as well as develop materials, devices, systems, or methods with forensic applications. The goal is to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of methods for analyzing physical evidence in criminal justice. For proposal development, applicants are encouraged to review the operational needs discussed at NIJ’s 2015 Forensic Science Technology Working Group meeting.
