This grant offered by the Bureau of Land Management supports long term research on Pacific Northwest tree species, forest diseases management, vegetation control impact on forest plantations, new technologies application in forest management, and tree breeding in Western Oregon and Washington. The goal is to enhance management decisions, address genetic knowledge gaps in tree breeding, and provide guidance for effective forest plantation management. Projects are funded annually and aim to improve the overall management of forest resources in the region.

| Agency Name: | Bureau of Land Management |
| Description: | The Bureau of Land Management is interested in supporting long term natural resource management research regarding long term growth and yield of Pacific Northwest tree species, long term development of management guidance for the management of forest diseases in western Oregon, the impact of vegetation management /control on the establishment, growth and yield of young forest plantations, the application of new technologies, to improve the management of forest resources, tree breeding in Western Oregon. Also, identifying tree controlled crosses that will produce clones with the greatest genetic gain in tree breeding programs in Oregon and Washington, assessing genetic gain in progeny of tree breeding programs in Oregon and Washington, and the long term development of management guidance for the management of Intermountain (Between the Rockies and Cascades) forest resources. The information will better inform management decisions and improve the management of forest resources, address the knowledge gaps related to genetic gain of tree breeding programs in Washington and Oregon, and provide guidance for forest managers in the effective management of young forest plantations. The projects typically involve multi-year study plans that are funded through year to year payments approved by the membership. |
