| Description: | Headquarters National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) is posting this Notification of Intent to award a single source cooperative agreement to the American Hiking Society (AHS) for the AHS National Trails Day project. Awards issued under this program will support Department of the Interior (DOI) Priorities for Financial Assistance (see attachment A) and support NWRS efforts to identify, conserve, manage and enhance the physical and ecological infrastructure of public lands managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service). This project contributes to the Service conservation stewardship legacy by providing greater public access to public lands through promoting recreational activities such as hiking and informing the public about the need to protect and maintain trail corridors. Additionally, this project will promote the restoration of trust with our local communities through promoting awareness of Americaâ¿¿s trails and encouraging events that celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act of 1968.
This award is entered into under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Serviceâ¿¿s CFDA 15.654 under the authority of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 16 U.S.C. §§2901-2911; Fish and Wildlife Act, 16 U.S.C. 742 et seq.; Refuge Recreation Act, 16 U.S.C. §§460k-460k(4); National Wildlife Refuge System Administration Act, 16 U.S.C. §§668dd-ee; Public Lands Corps Act – Youth Conservation Corps, 16 U.S.C. §§1701-1706; Public Lands Corps Act – Public Lands Corps, 16 U.S.C. §§1721-1726; Archaeological Resources Protection Act, 16 U.S.C. §§470aa-ll; and Federal Aid for Highways-Other Highways, 23 U.S.C. §§201-204 and §206. |
