THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service’s intention to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source justified master cooperative agreement.

Master Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00031 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS), and The Student Conservation Association (SCA) to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land through service opportunities, outdoor skills, and leadership training.

This project will engage a 1-year Conservation Intern and three 3-month summer conservation corps members to participate in educational programs and hands-on learning opportunities while working to address invasive species populations and deferred maintenance across the 550-acre historic forest at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park and 150-acres of historic landscapes and farmland at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site. Specific tasks that will be undertaken as part of this agreement include: Training on the threats of invasive plants to park ecosystems and identifying and treating common invasive species of the northeast for all interns; Work on a diversity of invasive plant management projects that provide experience in the range of treatment approaches and land management issues at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP and Saint-Gaudens NHS. By engaging a 1-year Conservation Intern and three 3-month summer conservation corps members in hands-on learning opportunities about invasive species management and public lands management, this project will advance the following public purposes: Provide hands-on service opportunities that help develop a generation of skilled workers, educated and active citizens, future leaders and stewards of natural and cultural resources; Supports the Government’s objective to provide opportunities for youth to learn about the environment and gain job skills by spending time working on projects in National Parks; and, Motivates youth participants to become involved in the natural, cultural and /or historical resource protection of their communities and beyond.
