Additional Information

Agency Name: National Park Service
Description: The project will support and stimulate an established partnership between Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (SLBE) and SEEDS Youth Conservation Corps. A partnership program called Natural Leaders has been developed to help promote high quality Youth Corps members who have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, communication skills, and confidence to become effective leaders. Natural Leaders is an education and leadership development program designed to inspire emerging environmental and community leaders. The NPS will participate and collaborate jointly with the Recipient in carrying out the scope of work. NPS is working directly with SEEDS Youth Conservation Corps staff to develop goals, objectives, activities and curriculum for the Natural Leaders program.

The Recipient is a member of SEEDS Inc., who was awarded a Master Cooperative Agreement P15AC00027, allowing SEEDS to participate in specific tasks, and can provide the necessary activities involved in this particular task while providing an effective outcome for NPS and the objectives of this research/educational project.
The Natural Leaders curriculum focuses on facilitation skills, mentoring, leadership development, community organizing and communication skills. The Natural Leaders youth corp group will gain firsthand knowledge about the environmental field through field trips, one-on-one mentorships with conservation professionals, trainings, and by visiting the National Lakeshore and learning about management of natural and cultural resources.
