Additional Information

Agency Name: Geological Survey
Description: The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to investigate coastal processes of mutual interest and push forward the use of coupled state-of-the-art models (sea-level rise, tide, wave, river flow, sediment transport, storm-driven morphology) for predicting barrier island evolution along U.S. coastlines. The research in this project is expected to result in the development of a new integrated modeling approach that includes the use of the ADCIRC model to assess barrier island response over short time periods (e.g., individual storms) and over the longer term (e.g., many storm cycles and including changes in sea level). This will inform management decision making, including planning for the impacts of future storms and sea level rise that are expected to impact coastal communities and ecosystems.
