Description: | The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to strengthen capabilities of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to execute essential public health functions. This FOA aligns with and supports Global Health Initiative and PEPFAR sustainability and country ownership continuum investments in public health systems, health policies, and public health workforce development. Key components include (A) support for HIV/AIDS and other priority disease control programs, as well as support for departments performing cross-cutting public health functions at the Ministry of Health through technical assistance; and (B) support for public health workforce development using applied learning methodologies in a tiered-training model. This model will be tailored to the appropriate cadre and associated competencies at the community-extension, facility, sub-district, district and national levels. Particular focus will be given to enhancing capabilities of district health services to execute their mandate. At the core of this model is a two-year public health fellowship program including tracks in field epidemiology, public health informatics, public health laboratory systems, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and health economics. |
