Description: The purpose of this FOA is to promote research to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms of HIV infection-induced immune activation and inflammation in the presence of antiretroviral therapy (ART) agents and drugs of abuse. The ultimate goal is to obtain information for developing therapeutic interventions for attenuating chronic inflammation-associated comorbidities as well as for restoring or improving ART efficacy in HIV-infected drug-abusing populations.
