The USDA – Texas State Office, through the NRCS, is offering grants to non-profit organizations, school districts, universities, and Native American tribal governments in Texas. This grant aims to fund projects that establish community and school gardens across the state, addressing issues like hunger and declining insect communities. With an approximate total amount of $150,000 available in fiscal year 2018, this initiative encourages the creation of urban gardens, pollinator habitats, and seasonal high tunnels to extend growing seasons. Grant applicants should focus on promoting natural resource conservation, addressing food deserts, and enhancing access to healthy, affordable food at a local level. Applications will be accepted until Dec 15, 2017.
