| Description: |
Based on funding availability, PAS New Delhi will support 25 E-Teacher alumni to become trainers of English language teachers in various cities around India. E-Teacher Alumni Train the Trainers project will be a four-phase program using virtual programming for professional development of English language teachers. Phase one: Up to 40 e-teacher alumni in India will participate in a MOOC entitled Professional Development for English Teachers (PDET), a 10-week online course previously created especially for RELO audiences. Phase two: Approximately five successful e-teacher participants from the PDET course from each consular district in India (25 total) will be selected to participate in a week-long Train-the-Trainers program (location to be determined) that is focused on effective facilitation of MOOC study groups and successful participation in virtual training with peer educators. Phase three: The 25 participants of the Train-the-Trainer program will return to their communities and serve as the facilitator of the PDET MOOC for a cohort of educators in their own communities and a receive a modest stipend for their facilitation. Where appropriate, these cohorts could meet at American Corners. Phase four: RELO will integrate the new alumni of the PDET MOOC into the growing network of English teachers to continue to share best practices.
