| Description: | Background: Cultural Resource managers require up-to-date, accurate information on previous investigations and documented archaeological sites as a part of their daily workflow. This information is used to make land use decisions, plan and develop projects, and manage significant cultural resource sites. That information comes in the form of paper and digital documents, as well as GIS. For 10+ years, the BLM and Utah SHPO have maintained a data sharing relationship where BLM creates data, sends it to the SHPO (as the federally designated repository for such information) and serves it back up to BLM in a GIS.
Objective: Utah SHPO currently manages the CURES database, a database of all archaeological data in the state of Utah, and makes that data available to BLM cultural resource managers. The objectives are to continue the data sharing partnership and work to improve the efficiency and quality of cultural resource data. Recipient: Utah Division of State History Program Goals: |
