| Description: | Not a request for applications. This is a Notice of Intent to award a Task Agreement to MRCA. This is a two-year project to employ and train youth in performing habitat restoration at a park site in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. This is a cooperative project between the National Park Service (NPS) and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA), working in partnership with Community Nature Connection (CNC), a non-profit organization formerly the Division of Interpretation of MRCA.
The primary purpose of the project is to provide opportunities for urban youth interns (â¿¿Youth Leadersâ¿) and volunteers from Los Angeles and surrounding communities to learn about the environment by working on a project in a National Park unit. Our intent in implementing this habitat restoration project is to motivate youth participants and provide them with skills to become involved in natural resource stewardship and related careers. The projectâ¿¿s programming components develop conservation and leadership skills in its youth participants. |
