Additional Information on Eligibility: The United States Department of the Interior, The National Park Service (NPS), Great Smoky Mountain National Park, is announcing a notice of intent to award; this is not a request for applications. This funding opportunity is to provide public notice of NPS’s intention to fund the following project activities without full and open competition, under Cooperative Agreement P14AC00882 with Western Kentucky University, for a project titled; Student Intern Support for the Cumberland Piedmont Inventory and Monitoring Network

Description: The Cooperator will provide student interns (graduate or undergraduate) to support operations of the Cumberland Piedmont Network Inventory and Monitoring Program. This collaborative partnership will be formed to assist the NPS with development, implementation, and/or data management components of official NPS monitoring protocols, while providing students with hands-on experiences in their fields of study.

Our staff of interdisciplinary experts works with community groups, private landowners, nonprofit organizations, tribes, and federal, state, county, and local agencies to identify the resources, provide site planning and design, map the trail on the ground, and develop educational opportunities.
