Additional Information
Agency Name: | National Institutes of Health |
Description: | The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) invites applications for Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) from investigators at Universities that award doctoral degrees in the health-related sciences or independent biomedical research institutes/medical centers with ongoing biomedical research programs funded by NIH or other federal agencies within Institutional Development Award (IDeA)-eligible states. The objectives of the COBRE initiative are to strengthen an institution’s biomedical research infrastructure through the establishment of a thematic multi-disciplinary center and to enhance the ability of investigators to compete independently for NIH individual research grants or other external peer-reviewed support. COBRE awards are supported through the IDeA Program, which aims to foster health-related research by increasing the competitiveness of investigators at institutions located in states with historically low aggregate success rates for grant awards from the NIH. |
