| Description: |
The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) intends to issue a grant agreement to California Department of Fish and Wildlife under the authority of Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) 15.532, Central Valley Project, Trinity River Division, Trinity River Fish and Wildlife Management, Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA), Public Law 102-575, Title XXXIV, Section 3406(b)(1) and 3407(e). Estimated total amount of agreement is $5,433,034.30. Reclamation is providing $1,434,944.00 in Fiscal Year 2018. The purpose of this project is to provide the funding for the Trinity River adult salmon and steelhead population assessments, and to set forth California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW) obligations and responsibilities to meet all technical requirements of these projects. The CDFW also provides technical assistance and participates in the Trinity River Restoration Program (TRRP) as a partner California natural resource agency on the Trinity Management Council (TMC) and in the TRRP Work Groups. Trinity River fisheries are valuable to tribal commercial and subsistence fisheries, and non-tribal recreational and commercial fishing. Adult assessments guides fisheries management and ensures natural escapement is maintained and harvest is appropriately allocated. CDFW participation in management of the Trinity River Restoration Program ensures their expertise and associated fisheries management responsibilities are incorporated into the TRRP actions and accomplishment of goals and objectives.
