Description: Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to Central Washington University in support of the project entitled “Production of Real-Time GNSS for ShakeAlert”.  
The main objective of this cooperative agreement is tocontinue and further the Earthquake Hazards Program’s collaborative researchproject to operate, support, improve and expand the ability of seismic andgeodetic networks in high-risk areas of the U.S. to provide warnings ofearthquakes when strong shaking has begun, so that
property damage, injury, and loss of life can be reduced in affectedareas
. This phase will support
 
further testing of the system, improving seismicalgorithms, completing integration of geodetic algorithms, creation of tools tomonitor the system and manage users, expanding network coverage throughbuilding new stations and upgrading existing stations and associatedcommunications systems, encouraging private-sector creation of EEWapplications, and developing coordinated training and education.  
Central Washington Universtiyoperates a USGS supported geodetic network that is included in the ShakeAlertsystem.
 
Central Washington Universityhas demonstrated ability to contribute geodetic data for ShakeAlert and will carryout and apply related geodetic research and development for early warningdevelopment.
