This grant, offered by the NSF Division of Materials Research (DMR), aims to significantly broaden participation and enhance diversity within the fields of materials research and education. Its core objective is to foster the creation of formal, long-term, and multi-investigator collaborative research and education partnerships. These crucial collaborations are specifically targeted towards institutions that serve groups historically underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), including minority-serving colleges and universities, women’s colleges, and institutions dedicated to educating a majority of students with disabilities. By connecting these partners with established NSF DMR-supported centers and facilities, the initiative seeks to create a more inclusive and robust materials science community, strengthening educational and research capacities nationwide.
