This grant, offered by the Office of International Science and Engineering (OISE), is designed to cultivate a globally-engaged U.S. science and engineering workforce. It provides high-quality international research experiences for U.S. students to ensure the nation remains at the forefront of global science and technology. The program has two main components: the International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) supports groups of U.S. undergraduate or graduate students undertaking research abroad collaboratively with foreign investigators. The Doctoral Dissertation Enhancement Projects (DDEP) component funds individual doctoral students conducting dissertation research internationally, also in collaboration with foreign investigators. This initiative aims to equip early-career scientists and engineers with essential international research skills.
