The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), part of the National Institutes of Health, is offering this R01 grant to support the development and testing of interdisciplinary interventions aimed at improving palliative care and enhancing the quality of life for dying patients and their informal caregivers. This grant is for advancing empirical and theoretically based interventions across diverse patient populations, various illness trajectories, and a continuum of care settings. Emphasis is placed on translating efficacious interventions into diverse environments to enhance end-of-life outcomes. Applications capitalizing on biobehavioral variables are particularly encouraged, as are those from new investigators and multiple PIs. NINR anticipates committing up to $2 million to fund 3 to 4 meritorious projects, contingent on fund availability and application quality.
