Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services.NIC welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the applicant and the others must be proposed as sub-recipients. The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire program.NIC may elect to make awards for applications submitted under this solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations. |

The National Institute of Corrections Veteran Informed Care Training on Responsivity (VICTOR) training program consists of 28 hours of instructor-led training [ILT] designed for criminal justice practitioners to gain specialized knowledge and skills for working with veterans. Qualified applicants must demonstrate the ability to take a pilot-tested course curriculum that features facilitated content and activities and incorporate all participant and subject matter expert feedback to revise the course curriculum and subsequently convert the curriculum to an e-course and prepare it for release to the field for immediate use. The course incorporates veteran-specific issues such as, military culture, service-related trauma, and difficulties with transitioning from military to civilian life. It also includes skills training, such as active listening, effective use of reinforcement, effective use of disapproval (with and without punishment), and effective use of authority that targets criminal justice professionals who supervise and/or conduct case planning activities with justice-involved veterans. |
