The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is offering this grant to renew the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) for its Inflammatory Bowel Disease Genetics Consortium (IBDGC). Established in 2002, the IBDGC has already identified over 100 IBD susceptibility loci. This grant aims to continue the discovery of additional genetic variants and, crucially, to integrate diverse -omic methodologies (genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic) to elucidate how these genetic risk variants influence IBD pathophysiology. The selected DCC will be vital in coordinating collaboration among Genetic Research Centers, managing subject enrollment and biological sample submission, overseeing data processing and analysis, and facilitating the operations of the IBDGC’s Steering Committee, ensuring cohesive and impactful research progression.

| Description: | The NIDDK Inflammatory Bowel Disease Genetics Consortium (IBDGC) was established in July, 2002 for the purpose of identifying genes predisposing to IBD.Since its establishment, the IBDGC, in collaboration with other international IBD genetics consortia, has identified more than 100 such susceptibility loci. However, many susceptibility genes still remain to be identified, and the work of elucidating how IBD risk-associated genetic variants influence the pathophysiology of IBD has barely begun. The purpose of this FOA is to renew the IBDGC to continue the discovery of susceptibility variants, and to integrate genomic with epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and other -omic methodologies to elucidate the effects of genetic risk variants on the pathophysiology of IBD.The DCC will coordinate collaboration among the Genetic Research Centers (GRCs, described in accompanying RFA-DK-11-032), enrollment of subjects into the study, submission of blood and other biological samples to centralized repositories, processing of blood samples for extraction of DNA and immortalization of cell lines, submission of clinical, genetic, and molecular data to central databases, and analyses of data, and manage the operations of the Steering Committee and other operational committees. The PD(s)/PI(s) of the DCC shall serve as a voting member of the Steering Committee of the IBDGC, and be bound by all of the operational decisions of this Committee. |
