The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is offering the Fair Housing Initiatives Program – Education Outreach Initiative grant to empower organizations. This grant is specifically designed for the purpose of educating the general public about their fundamental rights and obligations under the Fair Housing Act. The initiative encompasses two primary programs: the EOI – Regional/Local/Community-Based Program, which includes General, Lending, Higher Education, and Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing components, and the EOI – National-Based Program, featuring a National-Media Campaign. A crucial requirement for all applicants is to outline a robust referral process for fair housing complaints. This process must direct complaints to HUD or Fair Housing Assistance Program (FHAP) substantially equivalent agencies. Successful grantees will be mandated to develop and implement this proposed complaint referral mechanism.
