The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) offers this grant to establish International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (ICEMR). This U19 cooperative agreement supports multidisciplinary malaria research, integrating clinical and field findings for control and prevention. It aims to equip institutions in malaria-endemic areas with vital knowledge, tools, and evidence-based strategies. Applications require research projects (epidemiology, transmission, pathogenesis, diagnosis), training, special projects, and administrative/data management cores. This grant is exclusively for foreign institutions, not primarily for U.S.-based research. NIAID intends to commit $13.8 million for 7-12 new awards.
