The overall goal is the initiation of a vegetation monitoring program at Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge to support the mission of preserving the golden-cheeked warbler and black-capped vireo. The principal investigators will evaluate the effects of fire on the Refuge by:1. Identify monitoring protocols suitable for present and future monitoring of BCNWR vegetation, selecting from the alternatives offered by FIREMON. 2. Conduct baseline surveys of new experimental sites (burned and unburned, fenced and unfenced), using FIREMON.3. Conduct surveys of other unburned and burned sites using FIREMON.4. Carry out initial data analysis to identify effects of fire on vegetation
