Agency Name:: Philippines USAID-Manila
Description:: This is not a funding opportunity yet. USAID/Philippines is conducting market research or asking for possible sources to provide services in the Pacific Islands in the future.The objectives of the PREPARE Project are to strengthen disaster preparedness and expedite the delivery of appropriate emergency and reconstruction assistance in the event of severe U.S. Presidentially declared natural disasters in two Pacific Island nations – the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI). These objectives will be achieved through the following project components: 1) disaster preparedness, 2) emergency response, and 3) recovery and reconstruction assistance.

The PREPARE Project will set-up the procedures for responding to disaster in each of the above stages (before, during and after disaster strikes) of the disaster cycle. In summary, this will include the prepositioning of commodities, engineering designs, start-up awards and implementation arrangements with government, businesses and other NGOs. A key element for responding to disasters is partnering with the host governments.

The project will strengthen the collaboration between USAID and the host governments by increasing the disaster management capacity of OEEM and OCS. The project includes initiatives to accommodate training and mentoring activities and to promote greater adoption of disaster management approaches from the national to the local levels.
