Description: |
The USGS, Southwest Biological Science Center (SBSC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU Partner for research investigating the conservation efforts for the Chiricahua leopard frog and other amphibians of special interest to the state and our federal partners. Spurred by concern over global declines in amphibians, Congress funded a nationwide effort unkown as the Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative (ARMI) which is funded through the US Geological Survey and the funding source for this work. The driving force of this initiative is to determine the distribution and status of amphibians throughout the country and to identify causes of amphibian declines and ways to reverse these declines. The overall goal of this ARMI funded project in Arizona and the southwest is to identify threats to the federally threatened Chiricahua leopard frogs, ways to mitigate invasive species and disease, and to assist land mangers in habitat modification to benefit amphibians. |
