The CSREES department is offering this Critical Issues grant to provide one-time seed funding, enabling immediate attention to emerging and new plant and animal diseases. This grant is for initiating work that addresses urgent issues until sustained resources become available. For this specific solicitation, funding is purposed for the development of a rapid field assay. This assay is vital for detecting Vibrio Tubiashii and/or its secreted Metalloproteases toxin in commercial shellfish hatcheries and nurseries, directly addressing a critical, emerging health concern in aquaculture.
