This Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) grant, offered by the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), is dedicated to promoting domestic agricultural consumption. It achieves this by expanding direct producer-to-consumer marketing opportunities, thereby strengthening local food systems. Approximately $10 million in competitive funds are available for FY2012. Individual grants range from $5,000 to $100,000, and applicants are limited to receiving one award per funding year. Projects are expected to begin in October 2012 and must conclude no later than October 2014. A key benefit is that matching funds are not required, making this an accessible opportunity for initiatives aiming to enhance direct agricultural sales and market access.
