Description: Avenir means future in French, and the Avenir Award Program for Research on Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS looks toward the future by supporting early stage investigators (ESI) proposing highly innovative studies that address NIH HIV/AIDS Research Priorities https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-15-137.html. The Avenir Award Program for Research on Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS will support creative individuals who wish to pursue innovative research at the nexus of substance abuse and HIV/AIDS. The nexus with drug abuse should be clearly described. The Avenir Award Program for Research on Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS will support research approaches, both basic and clinical, which have the potential to benefit substance using populations with or at risk for HIV/AIDS by reducing HIV incidence, improving therapies for HIV, reducing the impact of comorbid conditions, and ultimately, eradicating HIV.
