The U.S. Department is offering this grant to strengthen the Somali National Army (SNA) and its key unit, SNA-Danab. For over ten years, the United States has provided significant logistical and operational support to SNA-Danab, which is now critical for the SNA’s operational planning. As the African Union Training Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) shifts responsibilities to the SNA, this grant is for the purpose of continuing vital operational assistance to SNA-Danab. Simultaneously, it will strategically enhance the capacity of the SNA HQ staff, fostering a more self-reliant and effective Somali defense force to lead future operations.
