The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is offering this grant to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This grant is for the purpose of assisting HBCUs in expanding their critical role and effectiveness in addressing significant community development needs within their localities. Funded institutions will focus on initiatives like neighborhood revitalization, housing improvements, and economic development, primarily benefiting low- and moderate-income individuals. The program defines ‘locality’ as the city, county, or political subdivision where the HBCU is situated, including the U.S. Virgin Islands. Activities are expected within a defined ‘target area’ in the locality, with justification required for any services provided elsewhere.
