This Bureau of Land Management (BLM) grant, awarded under the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act (SNPLMA) Round 9 Eastern Nevada Landscape Restoration Project (ENLRP), supports an assessment aimed at increasing the ecological integrity of the Ward Mountain system. The BLM’s Ely District Office (EYDO) is engaging The Nature Conservancy to complete this vital assessment. The project’s principal purpose is to identify areas on approximately 120,000 acres of BLM, US Forest Service, and Shoshone Tribal lands, adjacent to and southwest of Ely, NV, for the restoration of native ecosystems and treatment of Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) sites. This strategic collaboration is designed to help both the BLM and The Nature Conservancy meet their shared mission of preserving natural communities.
