This grant initiative from the Office of Refugee Resettlement aims to empower refugee women by providing microenterprise business opportunities focused on child care. It facilitates their integration into U.S. cultural norms and helps them meet State Child Care requirements through mentoring programs. The initiative will assist participants in English language acquisition, advance educational attainment (GED), and improve economic opportunities by applying acquired job skills in a market with a provider shortage. Mentors will support women in establishing agreements with State or county child care offices, enabling them to qualify for reimbursement as certified child care service providers, thus enhancing their self-sufficiency.
