This grant, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and managed by the National Park Service (NPS), is for the essential preservation of natural resources through extensive trail maintenance and repairs. Specifically, it targets flood-damaged sections and new trail construction along the Wonderland Trail within Mount Rainier National Park. The program will deploy two crews of six WCC members, including experienced NPS leaders, who will undertake critical work. This includes repairing flood-impacted trails, such as constructing a 1,500-foot re-route on the Carbon River section, and building approximately one mile of new trail to replace destroyed segments. Work is scheduled from July 2009 to September 2010, ensuring high-standard trail integrity.
