NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Services intention to fund the following project activities without full and open competition. ABSTRACT Single Source Justification Criteria Cited The activity to be funded is necessary to the satisfactory completion of an activity presently being funded, and for which competition would have a significant adverse effect on the continuity or completion of the activity. Cataloging the parks extensive archeological is an ongoing process that will take many years. OVERVIEW STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES/PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN Our goal in collaborating with Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (GGNPC) is continued research, interpretation and care for the parks museum collections. Proper handling, storage, documentation and accountability are essential for the long-term preservation and protection of these significant cultural resources. Once these one-of-a-kind resources are cataloged, they will be accessible for research, exhibit, and educational programming. The goal of this project is to catalog archaeological backlog of approximately 23,255 artifacts in year two (2) of three (3), from Alcatraz (Officers Row, Hospital Site), Fort Mason Historic District (Yerba Buena 1 and 2, Palmer House (FM-4), Building 235, 238, and 239), Fort Point, and Presidio Quartermaster Landfills. Many of the collections are from sites where we share programs and interpretive opportunities with the GGNPPC. |
