The NIH is offering an administrative supplement to support research and training focused on the health impacts of household air pollution (HAP). This grant aims to provide opportunities for teams with existing programs in lower and middle-income countries (LMIC) to investigate the relationship between HAP exposure, originating from biomass or solid fuels used for cooking, heating, or lighting, and adverse health effects on women and children. Research areas include, but are not limited to, risks for asthma, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, infections, ocular diseases, burns, pregnancy outcomes, acute lower respiratory tract infection, or impaired growth. The supplement also covers social and behavioral aspects of stove adoption and reduction.
